Program Overview
The Divisions IT Program continues to be very successful in assisting GPs to make greater use of Information Technology in their practices. Our recent IT survey indicates that some 92% of practices are now computerised with 89% of GPs using a computer in their consulting room. GPs are using their computers for the following:
Prescriptions 88.6%
Pathology 43.1%
Letter Writing 48.8%
Scanning 6.25%
Email 46.25%
World Wide Web 38.1%
Progress Notes 31.3%

The Division and GPs now have the IT infrastructure in place and need to explore how we can value add to it, to achieve greater efficiencies. Onsite training for Doctors, Nurses and Practice Staff includes:

Recall and reminder registers
Using clinical management software
Using practice management software
Making the most of clinical data
Electronic communication with other providers
Improving chronic disease management with information management
Current informatics initiatives in healthcare
