Benefits

Real-time eligibility checking allows confirmation of a patient's Medicate eligibility before bulk billing
The ability to electronically lodge Medicare claims on behalf of your privately billed patients (Patient Claiming), saving them a trip to the Medicare office.

Apply for PKI Certificates
You will be required apply via the web based facility at www.hesa.com.au and to print, sign and return to HeSA an Agreement along with Evidence of Identity documents.

  • Hesa Healthcare Location (not individual) Certificate Application Completed Online at www.hesa.com.au

  • Documentation To Support Hesa Application Mailed

  • Hesa Encryption Keys Received In Mail (approx 2 weeks)

  • Receipt Of Keys Letter Completed And Faxed to Hesa

  • PIC Number Received Via Telephone.

  • PKI Location keys installed

  • PracSoft V3 HIC Online claiming function implemented 

Register for HIC Online prior to using HIC Online
Before submitting transactions through HIC Online, all health care providers must register for HIC Online through the web-based registration facility below. Providers should also ensure their practice has completed the HIC Online Practice Details form prior to making their first HIC Online transmission.

  • Application for GP to use HIC Online completed online at www.hesa.com.au (use links on the left) and printout copy to be signed by GP and faxed.

  • Application for Practice to use HIC Online downloaded, completed and faxed

  • Practice Banking Details downloaded, completed and faxed

When HeSA has received and processed the provider's signed HIC Online Agreement, HeSA will notify the provider that they have been registered for HIC Online 

System Requirements

  • PracSoft V3

  • Internet Access (Broadband or Dial Up)

  • Patients complete Medicare details up to date in demographic records

The PKI Certificate application must be completed on line as must the GP Registration for HIC Online.
