Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer
The Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer position was established under the guidelines of the More Allied Health Service. The position provides services to rural communities in response to an identified need and vision to improve access to General Practitioners, and to create awareness of the Aboriginal specific Medicare items. The position provides services to Trangie and Warren, with the view to engage the Narromine community. These towns were selected as they have a relatively high percentage of Aboriginality but do not have direct Aboriginal Medical Services within the towns.
Position Objectives:
The Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer is responsible for creating local networks in the allocated town, through referrals and consultation with local General Practitioners, local Aboriginal families and support services. The objective of the position will be to increase health awareness, encourage access to General Practitioners and act as a support and/or advocate for Aboriginal individuals & families.
